RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The BRENDA-Score was developed and used to predict the prognosis of patients with breast cancer (BC). This study was performed to validate the use of this tool in Chinese patients with primary invasive BC patients. METHODS: Patients underwent surgery for BC from January 2009 to December 2016. Discrimination was assessed by the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC). Calibrations were assessed by comparing predicted and observed 5-year and 10-year metastasis-free survival (MFS) in the overall cohort and patient subgroups. RESULTS: A total of 2029 BC patients were enrolled. Kaplan-Meier analysis revealed significant differences in MFS risk groups (log-rank test P < .01). ROC analysis showed good accuracy for 5-year MFS (AUC 0.779) and fair accuracy for 10-year MFS (AUC 0.728). The BRENDA-Score accurately predicted 5-year and 10-year MFS in the entire cohort and in all other predefined subgroups, except for the 5-year MFS in the subgroup aged<40 years, which was overestimated (differences between the predicted and observed MFS were 6.7%, P < .05). The 5-year MFS rates of ER- positive and ER-negative patients were 90.9% and 80.6%, respectively (P < .05). The 10-year MFS rates of ER-positive and ER-negative patients were 78.0% and 73.7%, respectively (P = .25). CONCLUSIONS: The BRENDA-Score accurately predicted 5-year and 10-year MFS. The results showed good validity, transportability, and potential clinical value. However, the results for 5-years MFS should be interpreted carefully in patients aged <40 years. After 10 years the value of the ER as a prognostic factor was less important.

RESUMO

The serine/threonine protein phosphatase family involves series of cellular processes, such as pre-mRNA splicing. The function of one of its members, protein phosphatase, Mg2+/Mn2+ dependent 1G (PPM1G), remains unclear in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Our results demonstrated that PPM1G was significantly overexpressed in HCC cells and tumor tissues compared with the normal liver tissues at both protein and RNA levels. High PPM1G expression is associated with shorter overall survival (p < 0.0001) and disease-free survival (p = 0.004) in HCC patients. Enhanced expression of PPM1G increases the cell proliferation rate, and knockdown of PPM1G led to a significant reduction in tumor volume in vivo. Further experiments illustrated that upregulated-PPM1G expression increased the protein expression of gain-of-function (GOF) mutant p53. Besides, the immunoprecipitation analysis revealed a direct interaction between PPM1G and GOF mutant p53. Collectively, PPM1G can be a powerful prognostic predictor and potential drug-target molecule.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Persistent severe acute kidney injury (PS-AKI) is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Our study attempted to evaluate the diagnostic value of chemokines for early-stage PS-AKI prediction. METHODS: According to the KDIGO criteria, 115 COVID-19 patients diagnosed with stage 2/3 AKI were recruited from the intensive care unit between December 2022 and February 2023. Primary clinical outcomes included detecting PS-AKI in the first week (≥ KDIGO stage 2 ≥ 72 h). Cytometric Bead Array was used to detect patient plasma levels (interleukin-8 (IL-8), C-C chemokine ligand 5 (CCL5), chemokine (C-X-C Motif) ligand 9 (CXCL9), and interferon-inducible protein 10 (IP-10)) of chemokines within 24 h of enrollment. RESULTS: Of the 115 COVID-19 patients with stage 2/3 AKI, 27 were diagnosed with PS-AKI. Among the four measured chemokines, only the IL-8 level was significantly elevated in the PS-AKI group than in the Non-PS-AKI group. IL-8 was more effective as a biomarker while predicting PS-AKI with an area under the curve of 0.769 (0.675-0.863). This was superior to other biomarkers related to AKI, including serum creatinine. Moreover, plasma IL-8 levels of >32.2 pg/ml on admission could predict PS-AKI risk (sensitivity = 92.6%, specificity = 51.1%). Additionally, the IL-8 level was associated with total protein and IL-6 levels. CONCLUSION: Plasma IL-8 is a promising marker for the early identification of PS-AKI among COVID-19 patients. These findings should be validated in further studies with a larger sample size.

RESUMO

The matrix glycoprotein thrombospondin-1 (THBS1) modulates nitric oxide (NO) signaling in endothelial cells. A high-salt diet induces deficiencies of NO production and bioavailability, thereby leading to endothelial dysfunction. In this study we investigated the changes of THBS1 expression and its pathological role in the dysfunction of mesenteric artery endothelial cells (MAECs) induced by a high-salt diet. Wild-type rats, and wild-type and Thbs1-/- mice were fed chow containing 8% w/w NaCl for 4 weeks. We showed that a high salt diet significantly increased THBS1 expression and secretion in plasma and MAECs, and damaged endothelium-dependent vasodilation of mesenteric resistance arteries in wild-type animals, but not in Thbs1-/- mice. In rat MAECs, we demonstrated that a high salt environment (10-40 mM) dose-dependently increased THBS1 expression accompanied by suppressed endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) and phospho-eNOS S1177 production as well as NO release. Blockade of transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß1) activity by a TGF-ß1 inhibitor SB 431542 reversed THBS1 up-regulation, rescued the eNOS decrease, enhanced phospho-eNOS S1177 expression, and inhibited Smad4 translocation to the nucleus. By conducting dual-luciferase reporter experiments in HEK293T cells, we demonstrated that Smad4, a transcription promoter, upregulated Thbs1 transcription. We conclude that THBS1 contributes to endothelial dysfunction in a high-salt environment and may be a potential target for treatment of high-salt-induced endothelium dysfunction.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: There is a significant decline in the lymphocyte subset counts in the peripheral blood of COVID-19 patients. However, the mitochondrial function of lymphocytes obtained from COVID-19 patients has rarely been studied. METHODS: A case-control study was conducted in 115 COVID-19 patients and 50 healthy controls from December 2022 to February 2023. The extent of lymphocytic mitochondrial damage in these patients using mitochondrial fluorescence staining and flow cytometry. Clinical symptoms were evaluated using the SOFA and APACHE II scores. RESULTS: The mitochondrial function of lymphocytes was severely impaired in the peripheral blood of COVID-19 patients, compared to healthy controls, and was characterized by an increased single-cell mitochondrial mass (SCMM) and increased percentage of low mitochondrial membrane potential. The increase in the SCMM of T cells was more notable in patients with severe COVID-19 and was positively correlated with the SOFA and APACHE II scores. When the SCMM-CD8 cutoff value was 38.775, the AUC for distinguishing between severe and mild COVID-19 was 0.740, and the sensitivity, specificity, and Youden index were 65.8%, 82.1%, and 0.478, respectively. CONCLUSION: SCMM-CD8 could act as a diagnostic biomarker of COVID-19 progression. However, this needs to be verified in other multi-center studies with a larger sample size.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Osteoporosis (OP) is considered as one of the major comorbidities of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and is responsible for fragility fracture. However, there is currently no effective treatment for RA complicated with OP. Tubson-2 decoction (TBD), a Mongolian medicine also known as Erwei Duzhong Decoction, has been shown to exert a preventive effect on post-menopausal osteoporosis (PMOP). The preventive effects of TBD on RA-induced OP, as well as the bioactive compound responsible and the underlying mechanisms, remain to be elucidated. OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of TBD on RA-induced OP in vivo, and to elucidate the mechanism of isochlorogenic acid A (ICA), the effective component of TBD, in vitro. METHODS: To evaluate the anti-arthritic and anti-osteoporotic effects of TBD, we conducted H&E straining and safranine O/fast green, TEM, immunohistochemistry (IHC), bone histomorphometry, micro-CT imaging, and biomechanical testing in collagen induced arthritis (CIA) rats. The active ingredient in TBD was identified using network pharmacology and molecular docking. The identification was supported by in vivo IHC assay, and further confirmed using qRT-PCR, Western blot, and SEM analysis in TNF-α-treated MH7A cells and/or in LPS-exposed RAW264.7 cells. RESULTS: Oral administration of TBD attenuated the severity of arthritis and osteopenia as well as poor bone quality, in CIA rats. Additionally, TBD and the positive control, tripterygium glycosides (TG), exhibited similar effects in reducing inflammation in both the synovium and ankle joint. They also were both effective in improving bone loss, microarchitecture, and overall bone quality. TBD reduced the expression of MMP13, IL-17, and p-JNK protein in the synovium of CIA rats. ICA, which was screened, suppressed TNF-α or LPS-triggered inflammatory responses via down-regulating IL-17 signaling, involving in MMP13, IL-1ß, IL-23, and IL-17, and the MAPK pathway including p-ERK, p-JNK, and p-P38, both in MH7A cells and in RAW264.7 cells. Furthermore, ICA prevented osteoclasts from differentiating and bone resoprtion in a dose-dependent manner in vitro. CONCLUSION: This study provides the first evidence that TBD exerts intervening effects on RA-induced OP, possibly through the downregulation of the IL-17/MAPK signaling pathway by ICA. The findings of our study provides valuable insights for further research in this area.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT Objective: Intrathyroidal injection using an insulin pen filled with a mixture of lidocaine and triamcinolone acetonide is a therapy for subacute thyroiditis (SAT) reported by us previously. We aimed to evaluate the clinical efficacy of ultrasound-guided intrathyroidal injection in the treatment of SAT. Subjects and methods: A total of 93 patients with SAT completed the study. All patients were evaluated via a history and clinical examination followed by thyroid function tests and ultrasonography of the thyroid. After ultrasound-guided intrathyroidal injection, the patients were followed up with respect to the injection frequency, treatment duration, and patient satisfaction. The visual numerical rating scale was used as a pain questionnaire for a given interval. Results: Thyroid pain instantly decreased to scores below 3.0 following the first injection. Sixty-three patients (67.74%) avoided relapse of thyroid pain within 3 injections, which occurred within only 3 days after the first injection. The pain in 27 patients (29.03%) disappeared completely after 4-6 injections. Only 3 patients (3.23%) were found to need more than 6 injections, with 10 cited as the maximum number of injections, the injection took only 17 days altogether. The mean treatment cycle of the intrathyroidal injection was 3.98 days. There were no other associated complications with the novel therapy except infrequent small subcutaneous hematomas, which could be prevented with skilled practice. The average patient satisfaction score was as high as 9.0. Conclusion: Intrathyroidal injection of lidocaine and triamcinolone acetonide using an insulin pen was found to be an advantageous and satisfactory treatment for SAT.

RESUMO

Lampriform fishes (Lampriformes), which primarily inhabit deep-sea environments, are large marine fishes varying from the whole-body endothermic opah to the world's longest bony fish-giant oarfish, with species morphologies varying from long and thin to deep and compressed, making them an ideal model for studying the adaptive radiation of teleost fishes. Moreover, this group is important from a phylogenetic perspective owing to their ancient origins among teleosts. However, knowledge about the group is limited, which is, at least partially, due to the dearth of recorded molecular data. This study is the first to analyze the mitochondrial genomes of three lampriform species (Lampris incognitus, Trachipterus ishikawae, and Regalecus russelii) and infer a time-calibrated phylogeny, including 68 species among 29 orders. Our phylomitogenomic analyses support the classification of Lampriformes as monophyletic and sister to Acanthopterygii; hence, addressing the longstanding controversy regarding the phylogenetic status of Lampriformes among teleosts. Comparative mitogenomic analyses indicate that tRNA losses existed in at least five Lampriformes species, which may reveal the mitogenomic structure variation associated with adaptive radiation. However, codon usage in Lampriformes did not change significantly, and it is hypothesized that the nucleus transported the corresponding tRNA, which led to function substitutions. The positive selection analysis revealed that atp8 and cox3 were positively selected in opah, which might have co-evolved with the endothermic trait. This study provides important insights into the systematic taxonomy and adaptive evolution studies of Lampriformes species.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of preoperative pulmonary artery pressure on perioperative outcome of end-stage heart failure patients undergoing heart transplantation. METHODS: Retrospective analysis was undertaken on the clinical data of patients receiving heart transplantation in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of our hospital from March 2017 to March 2022. A ROC curve analysis was developed between mean pulmonary artery pressure (mPAP) and postoperative mortality using mPAP as diagnostic criteria. Patients were divided into groups based on this threshold to determine the best mPAP threshold value for predicting postoperative nosocomial mortality, and the differences in preoperative and intraoperative data, postoperative complications, and clinical prognosis of patients in the two groups were compared. Patients were followed up to draw the survival curve of patients in the two groups. RESULTS: The study enlisted the participation of 105 patients. ROC curve research revealed that preoperative pulmonary artery pressure was substantially linked with death following heart transplantation, with mPAP = 30.5mmHg being the best threshold. The group with mPAP ≥ 30.5mmHg had a greater incidence of postoperative ECMO support (28.2% vs. 10.6%, P = 0.021) and a higher incidence of in-hospital mortality (15.4% vs. 1.5%, P = 0.019) than the group with mPAP < 30.5mmHg. The postoperative survival rates of 105 patients were 91.3%, 88.7%, 81.6%, and 77.5% at 1, 2, 3, and 4 years, respectively, however, there was no significant difference between the two groups of patients in the postoperative intermediate-far survival rate (P = 0.431). CONCLUSIONS: Preoperative pulmonary artery pressure in patients with end-stage heart failure is intimately correlated with perioperative prognosis of heart transplant recipients. The optimal cut-off mPAP value in predicting perioperative prognosis of heart transplant recipients is 30.5mmHg. In the high mPAP group, perioperative ECMO support rate and perioperative mortality rate are high, which do not affect the medium and long-term prognosis of the recipients undergoing heart transplantation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Endoscopic variceal treatment (EVT) is recommended as the mainstay choice for the management of high-risk gastroesophageal varices and acute variceal bleeding in liver cirrhosis. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are widely used for various gastric acid-related diseases. However, the effects of PPIs on the development of post-EVT complications, especially gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB), remain controversial. AIM: To evaluate the effects of postoperative use of PPIs on post-EVT complications in patients with liver cirrhosis during hospitalization. METHODS: Patients with a diagnosis of liver cirrhosis who were admitted to the Department of Gastroenterology of the General Hospital of Northern Theater Command, treated by an attending physician between January 2016 and June 2020 and underwent EVT during their hospitalization were included. Logistic regression analyses were performed to explore the effects of postoperative use of PPIs on the development of post-EVT complications during hospitalization. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. RESULTS: A total of 143 patients were included. The incidence of post-EVT GIB and other post-EVT complications was 4.90% and 46.85%, respectively. In the overall analyses, postoperative use of PPIs did not significantly reduce the risk of post-EVT GIB (OR = 0.525, 95%CI = 0.113-2.438, P = 0.411) or other post-EVT complications (OR = 0.804, 95%CI = 0.413-1.565, P = 0.522). In the subgroup analyses according to the enrollment period, type and route of PPIs after the index EVT, use of PPIs before the index EVT, use of vasoactive drugs after the index EVT, indication of EVT (prophylactic and therapeutic), and presence of portal venous system thrombosis, ascites, and hepatocellular carcinoma, the effects of postoperative use of PPIs on the risk of post-EVT GIB or other post-EVT complications remain not statistically significant. CONCLUSION: Routine use of PPIs after EVT should not be recommended in patients with liver cirrhosis for the prevention of post-EVT complications during hospitalization.

RESUMO

Background: Acute type A aortic dissection (AADA) is a life-threatening cardiovascular disease, and improving perioperative mortality remains a significant challenge. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of preemptive intubation under adequate sedation and analgesia on the prognosis of AADA patients under the high rupture risk. Methods: The medical records of patients diagnosed with AADA and admitted to Changhai Hospital from January 2019 to January 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Patients were divided into two groups based on whether they received preoperative preemptive intubation in the cardiac intensive care unit (ICU) before surgery. We used propensity score matching (PSM) analysis to conduct statistical analyses on the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative clinical data of the two groups. Results: A total of 134 patients were eventually included in the study. One patient (3.8%) in the pre-intubation group and 15 (13.9%) in the control group died of dissection rupture before surgery. After excluding patients with dissection rupture, there were 25 patients in the pre-intubation group and 93 patients in the non-intubation group. After PSM, there were 17 patients in the pre-intubation group and 68 patients in the non-intubation group. Baseline data analysis showed that the pre-intubation group had a higher Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score (10.2±3.9 vs. 8.0±4.7, P=0.036) and a higher proportion of patients with coronary artery disease (16.0% vs. 1.1%, P=0.007). The rate of massive pericardial effusion was also higher in the intubation group (28.0% vs. 10.8%, P=0.049), and preoperative oxygenation index was lower (273.2±97.3 vs. 322.1±100.9, P=0.032) compared to the control group. The results showed no significant differences in intraoperative and postoperative data for the two groups. Kaplan-Meier survival curves indicated a trend towards a more favorable prognosis for patients in the preemptive intubation group, but this difference was not significant either before or after PSM. Conclusions: Preemptive pre-intubation may benefit high-risk patients with factors such as hypoxia, massive pericardial effusion, and agitation, improving the more critically AADA patients' perioperative outcomes.

RESUMO

Background: Mortality and other clinical outcomes of culture-negative and culture-positive among patients with fungal sepsis have not been documented, and whether antifungal therapy prior to fungal culture reports is related to decreased mortality among patients remains largely controversial. This study aimed to determine the mortality and other clinical outcomes of patients with positive yeast cultures and further investigate the effects of initial empiric antifungal therapy. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted among septic patients using the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care (MIMIC)-IV database. Patients with sepsis were divided into two groups based on first fungal culture status during intensive care unit (ICU) stay, and initial empirical antifungal therapy was prescribed based on physician's experience prior to fungal culture reports within 48 h. The primary outcome was in-hospital all-cause mortality. The secondary outcomes were 30-day all-cause mortality, 60-day all-cause mortality, length of ICU stay and length of hospital stay. Multivariate logistic regression, propensity score matching (PSM), subgroup analyses and survival curve analyses were performed. Results: This study included 18,496 sepsis patients, of whom 3,477 (18.8%) had positive yeast cultures. Patients with positive yeast cultures had higher in-hospital all-cause mortality, 60-day all-cause mortality, and longer lengths of ICU stay and hospital stay than those with negative yeast cultures after PSM (all p < 0.01). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that positive yeast culture was a risk factor for in-hospital mortality in the extended model. Subgroup analyses showed that the results were robust among the respiratory infection, urinary tract infection, gram-positive bacterial infection and bacteria-free culture subgroups. Interestingly, empiric antifungal therapy was not associated with lower in-hospital mortality among patients with positive yeast cultures, mainly manifested in stratification analysis, which showed that antifungal treatment did not improve outcomes in the bloodstream infection (odds ratio, OR 2.12, 95% CI: 1.16-3.91, p = 0.015) or urinary tract infection groups (OR 3.24, 95% CI: 1.48-7.11, p = 0.003). Conclusion: Culture positivity for yeast among sepsis patients was associated with worse clinical outcomes, and empiric antifungal therapy did not lower in-hospital all-cause mortality in the bloodstream infection or urinary tract infection groups in the ICU.

RESUMO

Polyaspartic acid (PASP), a well-known green scale inhibitor for industrial water treatment, might be decomposed with prolonged duration, and its anti-scaling performance against CaCO3 and CaSO4 is diminished at a low concentration (<10 mg L-1) and a high temperature. With semi-ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) tetrasodium salt as the mimicking model, novel phosphorus-free PASP-capped 2-aminoethylamino acid (PASP-ED2A) containing side chains bearing multi-functional groups is rationally designed and successfully prepared via the ring-opening reaction of cheap poly(succinimide) under mild reaction conditions with the assistance of readily available 2-aminoethyl amino acid. The static scale inhibition method is used to evaluate the scale inhibition performance of the as-synthesized PASP derivative. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy are utilized to monitor the crystallization process of calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate scales, and density functional theory calculations are conducted to shed light on the relationship between the molecular structure and scale inhibition mechanism of PASP-ED2A. Results show that the as-prepared PASP-ED2A shows better scale inhibition performance for CaCO3 and CaSO4 than PASP with a low concentration, a high temperature, and an extended duration. Particularly, PASP-ED2A with a concentration of 10 mg L-1 exhibits the best scale inhibition performance for CaCO3; its scale inhibition capacity is about two times as much as that of PASP. The reason lies in that the coordination atoms in the molecular structure of PASP-ED2A can chelate with Ca2+ to inhibit the combination of Ca2+ with anions and prevent the generation of CaCO3 and CaSO4 scales. The PASP-ED2A derivative can more efficiently retard the formation and growth of CaCO3 and CaSO4 crystal nuclei and exerts better inhibition performance against CaCO3 and CaSO4 scales than PASP.

RESUMO

To date, there has been little study of comparison between picosecond 532 nm laser and 755 nm Q-switched Alexandrite lasers in the treatment of freckles. To evaluate the efficacy and safety of picosecond 532 nm laser (PS 532) and 755 nm Q-switched Alexandrite laser (QSAL) for treatment of freckles in a split-face manner. Eighteen patients with freckles were enrolled in the study. The right and left sides of their faces were randomly assigned to either a QSAL-treated group or PS 532-treated group. The degree of pain, satisfaction with the results, and adverse events associated with the laser treatment were evaluated using a questionnaire. All of the patients were followed up at 4 and 12 weeks after one treatment session. Among the 18 patients, PS 532 was found to be associated with less pain (3.56 ± 2.431) than QSAL (3.94 ± 1.893), but the difference was not statistically significant. The curative effect and satisfaction associated with 755 nm Q-switched Alexandrite laser was greater than that of picosecond 532 nm laser (P < .001). Both picosecond 532 nm laser and QSAL are effective in the treatment of freckles, and QSAL has a greater rate of satisfaction and curative effect.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the most frequent cause of death in patients on maintenance peritoneal dialysis (PD). This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with cardiac complications and establish a multivariate logistic regression model for cardiac complications in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) requiring PD. METHODS: This retrospective study included 232 patients undergoing PD. Data of sociodemographic information, comorbidities, medication history, laboratory examination, and medical history were extracted from the medical records of patients with ESRD who underwent maintenance PD between January 2015 and June 2020. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the independent risk factors. RESULTS: The mean age of the study participants was 51.29±13.17 years, with female: male ratio of 87:145. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that lactate dehydrogenase (odds ratio, 1.002; 95% confidence interval, 1.001-1.004; P=0.004), albumin (odds ratio, 0.947; 95% confidence interval, 0.914-0.982; P=0.003), and left atrial diameter (odds ratio, 1.096; 95% confidence interval, 1.037-1.159; P=0.001) were independent risk factors associated with cardiac complications. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was 0.78. CONCLUSIONS: We identified the risk factors of cardiac complications in patients with ESRD requiring PD, which may be clinically useful to assess patients in PD and start their early treatment, which can help improve their prognosis.

RESUMO

Purpose: Identification of infection type in patients with fever is particularly important in the emergency departments (EDs) of hospitals. This study was designed to evaluate the performance of two biomarkers, the modified neutrophil CD64 (nCD64) index and CD38 presence on T cells, using flow cytometry. Methods: A total of 305 potentially infected patients with fever were admitted to the ED of Zhongda Hospital (Nanjing, China) between March 2021 and August 2021. This study included three groups of patients: bacterial (N = 180), viral (N = 30) , and uninfected (N = 65) based on their final diagnostic outcomes and clinical records. Results: The expression level of traditional/modified nCD64 was significantly increased in the bacterial infection group, especially in case of patients infected with Gram-negative bacteria. The most prevalent species were Staphylococcus spp. and Escherichia coli. In contrast, CD3+CD38+ cell percentages were elevated in patients with viral infections, which were mostly caused by Epstein-Barr virus and cytomegalovirus. CD38 expression is age dependent, and higher percentages of CD3+CD38+ cells were observed in children with viral infections. For the prediction of bacterial infections, the area under the curve (AUC) of modified nCD64 (AUC: 0.800) was significantly higher than that of C-reactive protein and heparin-binding protein but slightly lower than that of traditional nCD64 (AUC: 0.831). The AUC, specificity, and sensitivity values for the prediction of viral infections using CD3+CD38+ cells percentages in children were 0.899 (0.785-1.000), 96.2%, and 85.9%, respectively. Conclusion: nCD64 levels and CD3+CD38+ cell percentage are potential biomarkers that facilitate identification of patients with bacterial and viral infections.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Strokes are among the leading conditions that lead to disability and death. Currently, there is a lack of ideal nursing care for stroke patients. The aim of this study is to assess the effect of combining evidence-based nursing and clinical nursing pathway to establish a nursing model to provide care for patients who suffered a stroke. METHODS: A comprehensive search of online-based databases will be carried out to identify relevant publications, the databases include EMBASE, Cochrane Library, PubMed, VIP databases, Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, and WanFang database. The search will consider all Randomized Controlled Trials, interrupted time series studies, and controlled before and after studies, all related to providing care for neurology and strokes by combining evidence-based nursing and clinical nursing pathway to elevate access and outcomes for patients with stroke. The language of publications will be restricted to English and Chinese. The author will select studies, extract data, and evaluate the quality of the involved articles. RevMan 5.3 software will be employed to perform all statistical analysis. RESULTS: The outcomes of the proposed study will provide scientific evidence for the nursing care of evidence-based nursing combined with clinical nursing pathway for stroke patients. CONCLUSION: The planned systematic analysis will be first to examine the effect of combining evidence-based nursing and clinical nursing pathway to present a nursing model to treat stroke patients.
